11/5/16 Pat Sayers-Oldies But Goodies

On Saturday, November 5th, 2016 the Connecticut Daylily Society welcomes speaker Pat Sayers of Whispering Hills Garden. Though Pat has been hybridizing daylilies at her Huntington, NY location for over fourteen years, she has only recently begun releasing her registrations for sale—and the daylily world is ever so grateful! In 2013 she won an AHS Honorable Mention for the striking ‘Passion’s Promise,’ so named for her “daylily passion, and the promise of things to come.” Without a doubt, Pat’s gorgeous, northern-hardy introductions make good on the daylily’s guarantee of perfect perennial beauty!

Our renowned potluck lunch and social hour begins at noon, followed by Pat’s “Oldies but Goodies” presentation. Who doesn’t want to fill their garden with steadfast and stunning plants at bargain prices? Come see Pat’s recommendations for the best older daylily varieties. You may be surprised at how gorgeous some classic cultivars are, and many are unrivaled for their powerhouse performance!

The Connecticut Daylily Society invites all interested gardeners to attend this event, which is free of charge and open to the public. Door prizes are awarded at every meeting, and we always have plenty of lucky winners. The leaves may be turning and the temperature dropping, but we’ll be spending the afternoon daylily-dreaming. We hope you’ll join us!

The Avon Senior Center is located at the Sycamore Hills Recreation Center, 635 West Avon Road (Rt. 167) at the junction of Sycamore and Scoville Roads. Visit ctdaylilysociety.wordpress.com for more info, and check out https://patsayers.plantfans.com/ for Pat’s lovely creations.

With flowers, fellowship, food, and fun, the Connecticut Daylily Society welcomes everyone!

***In addition, Greg Haggett will have his beautiful new “Daylilies – 2017 Calendar” available for purchase at the meeting. He used a different print shop this time, so it’s better than ever and the same deal as before: $15/each, with $5 of that going to CDS. So, be thinking holiday gifts for yourself and your family and friends. If you would like a calendar, but are unable to attend the meeting, please get in touch with Greg at greg.haggett@yahoo.com to make arrangements to get your calendar(s) in time for the holidays and the new year.
