Saturday September 20, 2025 – in-person Speaker: Sarah Bailey. She will discuss climate change and its effects on our gardens
Saturday, November 1, 2025 – in-person Speaker: Gary Jones, our hard-working program chair and past president and stalwart doer of many things, has prepared a program on his wonderful garden in Woodstock, CT. He will share pictures of his daylily collection, including his 13 introductions plus a few seedlings. The presentation will also include a bit of CDS lore, a spattering of Gary’s companion plants, and his garden art.
Saturday, January 17, 2026 Zoom Meeting Program by daylily hybridizers and cutting-edge legends, Patrick and Grace Stamile. They now live in California but had breeding and sales gardens in Long Island and Florida. They have registered more than 1000 varieties and have won numerous awards. Easy armchair fun on a Saturday afternoon. Can you say blue daylilies?
Hartford Flower Show: February 19-22, 2026: CDS will be exhibiting at the CT Federated Garden Club’s Hartford Flower Show at the Convention Center. See daylilies on the Storybook Gardens theme and get information and advice about daylilies from our members. Open for 4 days with lots of great exhibits and sales booths. Volunteers helping at our booth get free passes and parking. Contact Rebecca Nisley to volunteer.
Saturday, March 21, 2026-in-person meeting. Come celebrate with us! Rich Howard, CT Daylily Club past president and hybridizer from Wallingford, CT, won the 2025 Stout Silver Medal for his stunning flower “EXPLOSION IN THE PAINT FACTORY.” This award is the highest honor for a daylily and its hybridizer, given by the American Hemerocallis Society. Rich will talk about his hybridizing program and how Explosion came to be. He will also feature many of his other beautiful daylilies, some of which will be auctioned off.

Our sale is held outside at the Avon Senior Center, Sycamore Hills Park, 635 W Avon Rd, Avon, CT 06001. Cash or check, rain or shine!
Our plants are member-grown, freshly dug, bare-root, hardy to our area, and very reasonably priced. This yearly event is a Farmington Valley fixture, with many CT residents making the trip every Spring to see what new and exciting plants await them! Big, small, ruffled, spidery, doubled, eyed, patterned–you name it, we’ve got it!
Daylilies are sun-loving perennials and the extensive variety of early, mid-season, and late-bloomers can really extend their presentation in the garden!
Our sale runs from 10 am to 2 pm, and early birds get the best selection. We give bonus plants with every purchase, and often have a mix of hardy perennials available for sale as well!
