The Connecticut Daylily Society will kick off its 2014-2015 program series on Saturday, September 13 with a presentation by author and hybridizer Charmaine Rich of East Thetford, Vermont titled “Winter…and the 4th of July.” Ms. Rich will present her program at 1:30 pm at the Avon Senior Center in Avon, CT. Come join the fun!
Ms. Rich serves on the American Hemerocallis Society’s Scientific Studies Committee. She is an expert and author of numerous scientific articles on the sculpted daylily form, an exciting development in modern daylily hybridizing. The sculpted daylily form was recognized by the American Hemerocallis Society in October 2010.
Ms. Rich’s hybridizing program has evolved from patterned daylilies to a focus on the exciting frontier of sculpted daylilies, and her very hardy zone 4B daylilies are well suited for Connecticut gardens, all of which are zone 5 or milder. Her beautiful new daylilies can be viewed on her website www.holdnheavendaylilies.com.
The Connecticut Daylily Society invites all interested gardeners to attend this event which is free of charge and open to the public. After a social hour commencing at noon; Charmaine Rich’s program will begin at 1:30.
The Avon Senior Center is located at the Sycamore Hills Recreation Center, 635 West Avon Road (Rt. 167), Avon, CT at the junction of Sycamore and Scoville Roads.
