After all this crazy winter and slow-arriving warm weather, we are finally feeling the spring sunshine and warmth. Daylilies are showing their green sprouts and giving us hope that summer flowers will be coming soon. The Connecticut Daylily Society/Club is sponsoring some great activities for you to enjoy.
First off is our annual plant sale. We sell bareroot daylilies freshly dug from members garden at reasonable prices so that you can add lots of color to your summer gardens. Potted perennials from members’ gardens will also be available. The sale venue is the lawn in front of the Avon Senior Center/Sycamore Hills, 635 W. Avon Rd. Avon, CT on Saturday May 17 at 10am til 2pm. Remember, early birds get the best daylilies (and the hellebores)! Cash/Check/Venmo. Rain or shine. Free plant with every purchase!
We are planning a series of Open Gardens during peak bloom season in July. We will post dates and times when you can visit members’ gardens. Send Russ Allen a note if you wish to volunteer or find out more information. We usually open on various weekends and Wednesdays.
The CDS Picnic will be a Cheryl Fox’s beautiful garden on SUNDAY July 13. Food at noon, business meeting at 1 pm. Bring a chair. The usual routine!
